JOB DESCRIPTION

A Stores Operative is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of a warehouse or storage facility by managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods. This role involves tasks related to inventory control, order processing, and maintaining a well-organized and accessible storage system.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements. Training is typically provided Off or on-the-job. NVQs/ in Warehousing and Storage are available at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

TASKS

  • Maintain accurate inventory records through regular stock checks and data entry..
  • Update inventory systems to reflect product information and quantities..
  • Pick and pack products accurately based on order requirements..
  • Ensure proper labelling and packaging of items for shipment..
  • Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities and inspect goods for damages..
  • Report discrepancies or quality issues to supervisors..
  • Organize products in designated storage areas for easy accessibility..
  • Optimize space utilization and ensure the warehouse is clean and orderly..
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks (if required)..
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues..
  • Complete and maintain detailed records of inventory movements, including receipts and shipments..
  • Prepare shipping and receiving documentation as required..
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, supervisors, and other team members..
  • Provide updates on inventory levels, order status, and any issues affecting warehouse operations..
  • Assist in conducting quality checks on received and shipped items..
  • Report any quality issues and collaborate with relevant teams to address concerns..
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during all warehouse activities..
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly..
